Florists in Honesdale Get Ready for Easter Now that Easter is less than a week away, flower shops all over are working fast to fill orders and have those baskets ready for Sunday. "We had a big drop about three years ago, then it's been steadily climbing since then," said Robert Frank. Frank says he's noticed customers who turned to discount flowers when the economy was rough, are now starting to come back to florists. "We trim up our plants, we put bows on all our plants, we cover the pots with either a nice basket or some colorful foil. Robert Frank, owner of the Honesdale Greenhouse Flower Shop, says a good deal of work goes into ensuring the arrangements are beautiful and perfect. Florists in Honesdale are busy, trimming flowers and taking orders all to make sure their customers have a bright Easter Sunday. "We have a fair share of orders for this weekend, never enough as far as I'm concerned," Frank added. Over the past few years Easter was a struggle for a number of the local florists, but now things are starting to look up. "It's a sign that spring is coming and people are coming for their perennials, their fruit trees, and you know, it's the start of everything for us," said Else. Sara Else, a florist at Bold's Florist and Garden Center in Honesdale says, around this time of year the deliveries start coming in, filling the shelves with vibrant flowers, and business picks up. Both flower shops we visited in Wayne County say there's nothing like beautiful fresh-cut flowers to help celebrate the Easter season. |
